Here’s Heather’s account:
The Christmas Party After School Program on Dec 5th was a wonderful success!
So many people gave of their time and talent; it was truly a blessed event.
We had so many contributions of food and presents…it’s hard to remember them all!
But let’s try…
To Shirley Parotti and her luncheon group, the Wacky Club, for donating 25 books, Letters from Ozo, written and illustrated by Bill Armstrong. We are very grateful to the Wacky Club for this, and for their donation of $100.00 to our After School Program. Thanks!
For Margarita Silva-Potts who not only provided the snack, as she does every After School Program, but also donated apples, oranges, and mixed nuts to each of our 30 bags of presents for the kids. Thank you Margarita!
For Mary Harrell who gave of her time in presenting a great, how to make pinecone Christmas trees, art project. She made jingle bell necklaces for all the kids and grown-ups as well as giving nerf footballs as presents to our after school program kids. Thanks Mary!
For Fr. Brian McHugh who spent hours baking six-dozen (that’s right, 72) holiday cookie cut outs for the kids to decorate. He also brought two delicious cakes he made for the after school program. Thanks Fr. Brian!
To Tom and Consuelo Hester, who both contributed two large Enchilada trays and Mexican rice that were, dare we say, awesome!
For Jane Bates who whipped up some fabulous green, red, and white icing for the kids to use on the cookie cut outs. She brought glitter, sprinkles and oh yes, who could forget the M & M’s. Thank you Jane!
Thanks to Linda Shay, who coordinated this meal even though she could not attend. Linda co-plans all the wonderful meals for the After School Program, with Jane Bates. And is in charge of creating the menus. Thanks Linda.
Karen Morant donated games, stuffed animals, and candy towards the presents for these kids. She even brought the yummy, fresh vegetables for our Mexican dinner, and stayed to help the kids decorate cookies.
Thanks to Sarah Guck, for giving a wonderful chapel. Anne McCormick, Tony Guck, Diane Armstrong thanks for all your help. To Dave and Pam Kuthe, thanks for tutoring our after school kids. And anyone else I may have forgot to mention, Thanks@!
Deacon Tom Bates donated candy, stuffed animals, and gift bags towards the presents. Our Deacon also donates an untold amount of hours towards overseeing this great project of ours, the After School Program, and we sure do thank him for it. Without Deacon Tom, this program would surely, not exist.
And thanks to Fr. Paul Moore. Fr. Paul blesses our after school program with guidance for the children, chapel time, and speaks Spanish with many of our non-English speaking parents. Thanks to Fr. Paul, we look forward to an even greater participation from our kid’s families. For Christmas he dressed in a red chasuble, as St. Nicholas, sang Christmas songs, and handed out presents with Deacon Tom. Thanks Fr. Paul.
The Church of the Good Shepherd sure portrays the spirit of giving in its After School Program. Thanks for this, most wonderful holiday bash ever!!!
Until next year….
